We recently received significant insights into the Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 lineup, and Samsung is taking bold steps by completely overhauling the series. The most notable change is the removal of the blade light design. In place of that classic style, Samsung is aiming for a flatter, thinner, and more angular aesthetic. Current renders suggest that this new direction looks quite impressive, although it marks a substantial departure from previous generations.
While the spotlight has mostly been on the Buds 4 Pro, we now have official images of the basic Buds 4 as well. It turns out the standard model looks much like the Pro variations we’ve seen, suggesting a rather coherent appearance across the entire series.
There are five new updates coming to the Buds 4 Pro. According to the sources, some of these alterations make a lot of sense, while others “really don’t,” which would leave some fans feeling uncomfortable.
The design is consistent, featuring the same brushed metal finish, but it lacks the ear tips found on the Pro model. Additionally, the charging case is undergoing a transformation; Samsung is moving away from the vertical design of the Buds 3 and returning to a horizontal layout, similar to that of the Buds 2 Pro, but now with a transparent lid. While the design of the Buds 4 isn’t surprising, the battery situation is where things get interesting. We now have the battery capacities for the Buds 4, Buds 4 Pro, and their cases, sourced directly from internal coding in the One UI 8.5 beta.
Here’s a revised version of the input for clarity and consistency:
The breakdown is as follows: the base Buds 4 will feature a 42 mAh battery, while the Buds 4 Pro will have a 57 mAh battery. The good news is that the Buds 4 Pro sees a 4 mAh improvement over its predecessor. Although this increase may not seem significant, it represents approximately an 8 percent boost, which could lead to slightly longer battery life. However, the concerning issue is that the regular Buds 4 are losing 6 mAh compared to the Buds 3. This situation worsens when considering the Buds 2, which has a 61 mAh battery.
Consequently, the Buds 4 are down about 13 percent in capacity compared to the Buds 3 and a striking 31 percent compared to the Buds 2. Why would Samsung make this decision? Honestly, I’m at a loss. I’ve stopped assuming that this organization consistently makes sound choices. The only explanation that seems plausible is a focus on efficiency. The Buds 3 have shown that Samsung can reduce battery size while still maintaining similar battery life, thanks to a more efficient chipset. Perhaps Samsung thought, “Why not reduce it further and keep battery life the same?”
If that’s the case, cool. But also… why not offer users the benefit instead of decreasing capacity again? That’s the part that’s frustrating. At least the Buds 4 Pro go the opposite direction. Bigger battery; consequently, battery life should improve there. As for the cases, the Buds 4 Pro case receives a 15 mAh increase. Nothing exceptional, but at least it’s not a downgrade. We still don’t know the case capacity for the regular Buds 4. Moving on, Samsung removed a very irritating limitation from the Buds 3. The Buds 4 lineup gets
a bodily gesture to engage Interpreter mode. Just pinch and hold the stems on both earbuds. With the Buds 3, you had to reach out your phone and manually start Interpreter first. On the Buds 4, you just execute the gesture, and it’s on. Way more convenient. Your phone still needs to be connected, though. No magic here. Interestingly, AirPods Pro employ a very similar mechanism for Live Translation. Call it copying, call it inspiration. If it makes the feature faster and easier to use, that’s a win.
So what else is the Buds 4 lineup bringing to the table? Well, they’re getting head gestures. You may nod or shake your head to manage calls, notifications, alarms, and timers and even say yes or no to the phone’s AI assistant. Other earphones do this, but in a very constrained form. Samsung’s version appears a lot more adaptable and actually helpful. There’s also a new button on the charging case adjacent to the USB-C connector. Double-press it and your related phone rings so you can discover it. And based on what appears like a speaker grille,
So the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro are quite likely launching alongside the S26 series at Unpacked. But here’s the section that actually matters. The listing doesn’t only confirm timing. It also illustrates some minor tweaks Samsung did behind the scenes. I read over the official material, and this is one of those changes that sounds uninteresting but fixes a big problem, the antennae. Samsung subtly changed from the QLDS antenna architecture utilized on the Buds 3 Pro to a solid metal
antenna design for the Buds 4 Pro. Now, on paper, that doesn’t sound interesting, and even the test figures don’t look big. But here’s why it actually matters. Instead of the signal moving up and down like before, the Buds 4 Pro keep a substantially more steady connection. So, if you’re sitting at a desk or reclining on the couch, you normally won’t notice anything. But if you move about, this is an important thing. Those random cutouts on public transit, at the gym, or when walking between rooms,

This upgrade is made to fix that. And Samsung didn’t stop there. Bluetooth power on the Buds 4 Pro is better. But more significantly, it’s cleaner and more stable. Testing showed Samsung is certainly promoting Bluetooth LE this time, with the signal staying strong instead of sinking like it did before. And, that’s exactly what caused those minor audio dropouts or delayed reconnects. You receive faster reconnects when you open the case, more reliable switching between devices, fewer random audio hiccups, and better
battery life, all without losing performance. This is the kind of update you don’t notice right away, but once you do, you can’t unnotice it. Now, here’s one that honestly startled me. Radiation levels. The Buds 4 Pro come in at about 0.4848 watts per kilogram, which is exceptionally low. SAR, or specific absorption rate, is basically how much wireless radiation your body absorbs. Lower is preferred. What’s impressive is Samsung made the signal stronger without using more power. That’s not easy to do. If
You care about long-term health; this actually matters. And these are merely the internal modifications. Samsung also made adjustments to the appearance, battery, and features, including something you won’t even find on the AirPods Pro.

How times Battery backup?
Good
Finally! I’m so glad they’re moving away from that sharp, angular design on the stems. I loved the sound of the 3 Pros, but they felt a bit ‘poke-y’ after an hour of use. If the 4 Pros go back to a smoother shape while keeping the same audio quality, I’m definitely upgrading. Also, the horizontal case layout makes way more sense—the vertical ones were always a bit finicky to get the buds back into.
Is it worth it than airpods Pro?
Totally insightful

Very good looking and nice
Well explained article.
The design changes feel fresh, and the small improvements actually sound useful in daily use. Curious to see how the battery and connection hold up in real life.
The redesign looks refreshing, and the antenna and connectivity improvements are actually more interesting than the cosmetic changes. Battery decisions on the regular Buds 4 are questionable, but the Pro model seems like a solid step forward overall.

Samsung is great all of time 😌
This post is very helpful for me
The design refresh looks clean, but the battery downgrade on the regular Buds 4 is definitely confusing. I like the practical upgrades though, especially the Interpreter gesture and improved antenna stability. If the Pro model really delivers better battery life and fewer dropouts, it could be a solid upgrade

Great post
Excellent and very detailed breakdown of the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro! The antenna redesign, improved Bluetooth stability, and lower SAR levels are the kind of behind-the-scenes upgrades that actually improve daily use. The new gesture controls and Interpreter mode activation also feel genuinely practical. Battery decisions on the regular Buds 4 are questionable, but overall the Buds 4 Pro sound like a solid and thoughtful upgrade—especially if they launch alongside the S26 series.
