Did Samsung anticipate the foldable iPhone coming more than 10 years ago?
This year, Apple could finally enter the foldable phone market, but according to latest rumors, the corporation has been monitoring Samsung’s efforts for more than 10 years.
If the rumors are accurate, the form and dimensions of Apple’s first foldable iPhone may have originated from a Samsung design that is so archaic it appears like it came from the Stone Age.
In 2013, the Windows Phone operating system was barely three years old and was still new. That year at CES, Samsung showed off a bogus folding phone.
The ad itself was a bit weird, but the message was clear: this is how Samsung believes phones may appear if foldable displays were real.
Foldables will no longer be seen as a scientific experiment in 2026. Samsung’s Galaxy foldables come in three commercially available shapes so far: the Flip, the Fold, and the TriFold. They are available in a range of sizes and styles.
People are starting to think that Samsung is working on a fourth design. Rumor has claimed that the Galaxy Wide Fold features a wider aspect ratio than the current Z Fold.
This would make watching movies and other material on the bigger inner display more enjoyable.
It’s interesting that some think Apple’s upcoming iPhone Fold will come out after Samsung’s. It’s likely that both gadgets will have sizes that are similar to those of an old Samsung CES 2013 prototype. Look at the screenshot.
The idea has been around for six years before the original Galaxy Fold. It was only a notion presented in an exaggerated promotional video at the time.
However, in retrospect, it’s challenging not to ponder whether Samsung had the perfect recipe for an iPhone Fold more than 10 years ago.
This does not mean that Apple’s first foldable iPhone or the Galaxy Wide Fold will be perfect. That is still up for discussion.
Nevertheless, it’s tough not to be impressed if Apple ends up releasing a foldable that resembles a Samsung idea from CES 2013.
Samsung was researching the “right” foldable form factor long before the technology was ready to make it a reality, whether you call it foresight or just pure artistic ambition.
The iPhone Fold design may have been revealed by a case manufacturer.
A Turkish manufacturer claims to have provided pictures of the iPhone Fold mold.
The iPhone Fold, the company’s first foldable smartphone, is likely going to be Apple’s biggest product this year.
And we’re beginning to have a good notion of what to anticipate: the device’s whole design is now out, and last week we saw the screen for the first time. Supposedly.

Images of what it says is the iPhone Fold mold have been shared on Instagram by a Turkish startup. This refers to a device’s metal cast, which case manufacturers use to assure their casings match the final design.
Although manufacturers have their own techniques of gathering the precise dimensions to assure they are ready on day one, Apple is infamous for not disclosing the measurements of new iPhones to outside case makers.
According to the publication, the iPhone Fold will be around the size of an iPad mini when unfurled and around the size of an iPhone mini when closed.
It seems to have two rear-facing camera lenses in a straight rather than diagonal configuration, which is a considerable design advancement over the iPhone Air, which the Fold is rumored to follow.
It’s crucial to note that the mold seems to be a conventional protruding camera module, akin to those seen on the 16-series generation of iPhones, rather than a plateau when viewed from the side.
Additionally, there is a circular component on the rear that looks to hint that MagSafe is implemented.
It goes without saying that corporations that are trusted with Apple’s secrets and then openly discuss those secrets on social media won’t be trusted for very long, as having access to pre-launch information is a major competitive advantage.
This type of action is thus very infrequent and often the outcome of a mistake or the activity of a disgruntled employee.
It’s unclear how this precise gadget is supposed to have escaped into the wild, in part due to the language barrier and in part because all we get is a short video (the title of the video, via Google Translate, states merely “iPhone Fold is the first and only in the world together with its case”).
However, it would be incredibly rare for an accessory producer to receive an approved mold from Apple and then expose it online.
This suggests that it’s either a believable fabrication or the corporation received it from somewhere else. We would recommend skepticism in any circumstance.
