Shortly after the launch of the Galaxy S26 series last month, Samsung confirmed it wasn’t going to relinquish the S Pen on its Ultra devices.
Samsung hinted at plans to create new technologies that would enable the forthcoming phones to be slimmed down while maintaining stylus input, rather than eliminating S Pen compatibility from the upcoming Ultra phone, as it did with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 last year.
Samsung may wait longer, even though that laid the groundwork for the Galaxy S27 Ultra to receive support, which is anticipated to happen next year.
Samsung may have delayed plans to redesign the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s display, according to a recent report from Korea’s ET News.
In order to make the next Galaxy S27 Ultra smaller, it allegedly intended to create a new display without a digitizer that detects stylus input.
However, Samsung is said to have abandoned the notion for the next generation after recently reconsidering its plans.
Samsung does not intend to eliminate S Pen support from the Galaxy S27 Ultra, according to sources quoted by ET News.
According to additional reports, the plans were abandoned because of the lack of enthusiasm for thinner phones.
Samsung didn’t appear to find the need to further reduce the size of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, even though it has already been reduced to 7.9mm this year.
Samsung may reevaluate the need for a digitizer in addition to internal magnets for wireless charging, according to the report.
Although it isn’t stated in the report specifically, the addition of a digitizer layer may indicate that Samsung will forego internal magnets for one more generation because the magnets’ magnetic field could interfere with the digitizer’s electromagnetic resonance (EMR), which is what detects the input from the S Pen.
Simultaneously, there are rumors that Samsung will restore compatibility for the S Pen on the next foldables, beginning with the “wide” Fold.
Samsung may experiment with digitizer-less stylus input on upcoming foldables, as it eliminated the digitizer on the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
If that hypothesis is correct, Samsung may be able to assess and improve the technology for upcoming Ultra models in the Galaxy S series with the aid of the broad Fold.
For a significant speed gain, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra may use a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra, Samsung’s upcoming top phone, is already drawing notice due to its anticipated potent performance.
It will probably feature a top Qualcomm chipset, the same as previous Galaxy S Ultra phones. The new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip may be included in the gadget, according to a recent leak.
Digital Chat Station, a well-known source, claims that TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm technology would be used to create both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Gen 6 Pro.


As a result, the chips can operate more quickly on a smaller battery. Users benefit from this since it can simultaneously increase battery life and phone speed.
Additionally, the tipster revealed that these chips might employ a novel CPU design known as “2+3+3. “
This configuration consists of three cores for regular daily use, two extremely powerful cores for intensive operations, and three lesser cores that help conserve battery life during light tasks.
The Pro version is expected to be more powerful than the standard one. It might have greater graphics memory, a more recent Adreno 850 graphics unit, and support for faster LPDDR6 RAM.

Now that the Galaxy S26 Ultra and its siblings are official, the focus is already on the Galaxy S27 series. However, the most recent leak isn’t specifically related to the 2027 phones.
Rather, it refers to a new camera sensor that Samsung is working on that may possibly be included in the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
Samsung is apparently working on a new flagship 200MP ISOCELL sensor called HPA, according to tipster Digital Chat Station.
According to reports, the sensor may make its smartphone debut in 2027 and has a massive 1/1.12-inch format.
Additionally, the tipster states that LOFIC technology will be supported by the sensor.
Although the Galaxy S27 Ultra isn’t specifically mentioned, it wouldn’t be shocking if Samsung used this new sensor in its upcoming Ultra flagship.
In the meantime, Ice Universe, another well-known tipster, made a rather different assertion.
He claims that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will use a modified HPA sensor with a slightly smaller 1/1.3-inch size, known as the HP6. It is claimed to provide performance on par with the bigger HPA despite the smaller sensor size.
The introduction of the Galaxy S27 series is still around a year away, and there will probably be many more leaks in the coming months.
Nevertheless, given that the flagship S series has been using the same sensors for the previous four years, it would be good to see Samsung finally update the camera technology.
